For all you Cockroaches this is for you!!
As a Queenslander I would just like to remind all those New South Welshman out there about who won last year and would just like to suggest a probably outcome for the game tonight?...
Here's the line up: There is a few changes that I would make, but still it's looks pretty good:
1. Karmichael HUNT (Brisbane Broncos)
2. Brent TATE (Brisbane Broncos)
3. Steven BELL (Manly Sea Eagles)
4. Justin HODGES (Brisbane Broncos)
5. Greg INGLIS (Melbourne Storm)
6. Darren LOCKYER (c) (Brisbane Broncos)
7. Johnathan THURSTON (North QLD Cowboys)
8. Steve PRICE (New Zealand Warriors)
9. Cameron SMITH (Melbourne Storm)
10. Petero CIVONICEVA (Brisbane Broncos)
11. Tonie CARROLL (Brisbane Broncos)
12. Carl WEBB (North QLD Cowboys)
13. Dallas JOHNSON (Melbourne Storm)
14. Shaun BERRIGAN (Brisbane Broncos)
15. Jacob LILLYMAN (North QLD Cowboys)
16. Nate MYLES (Sydney Roosters)
17. Neville COSTIGAN (Canberra Raiders)
I would get rid of Civoniceva (because he's USELESS, and somehow impresses the selectors every year) and bring back from retirement Trevor 'the axe' Gillmeister, no actually I think Mal should step out of the coaching role and make a comeback, anyone will do, just get Civoniceva off the ground!
All in all it should be a good game (even with Civoniceva casually strolling around the battlefield. This is just a drop in the bucket compared to the enormity of the Bleddislow Cup (Australia V New Zealand) June 30th. Rugby Union is by far the better game. But tonight Rugby League will do.
In closing I will leave a picture of the 06 QLD team and highlight the strangely beautiful man Holding the Shield, more commonly known as Darren Lockyer. For all those who watched last years game, you will remember what this dream boat did to the opposition. He may be getting old, but unlike 'The Axe' he blatantly refuses to move into a nursing home. Tonight at 7:30 you will see him gracing the field, (possibly with a walker or even one of those little gofer things you see the oldies going to the shop in, but he'll be there!
Go the Maroons!
4 Comments:
There's nothing that needs to be said. NSW had a rough call made against them when Willie got penalised for nothing, but what goes around comes around that initial NSW try was pretty suspect...
However it was either Phil Gould, or Fatty that made a comment that you never leave the gate open to a QLD'er, because they'll be straight in, on your couch and drinking all your grog, and what is left to say?...
Hmm, looks like one of your boys is out for the season with knee damage too buddy.
Good to see Fat Tony still pulling on a maroon guernsey mate.
Try of the match still went to NSW, but you guys must have had a better 2nd half.
Only saw the highlights so I can't really comment much more.
Carn the bloos!
yeah fat tony pulled his weight! HAHA
Your right about the try of the match.
we'll see what happens game two, my prediction QLD will go down by at least 6 points. It was good to see Mullens have a good game, but he's got a long way to go until he's going to fill Joey's boots.
Match two:
The Blues were a little hard done by with that late (very soft) penalty awarded, and a VERY forward pass from Webb (Fat Tony and Carl, I love 'em!) which gave QLD the foot in for the try. oh well...
Man of the match would have been a tough one to call: Inglis, Thorton, Lockyer, Smith(obviously) and Civoniceva played brilliantly! (that was supposed to be funny about Civoniceva, mind you he actually had a few big hit ups which was a shock, he must have been watching big willie and thought "hey, I'll try that).
What about Brett Stewart, great start! Shame he plays for Manly!
